BCPST (biology, chemistry, physics, earth science prépa)

BCPST is the prépa for life and Earth sciences, with a great deal of biology and geology to remember. Lumi helps you memorise the vocabulary, diagrams and mechanisms.

In short

BCPST stands for biologie, chimie, physique et sciences de la Terre. It is a two-year science prépa track with maths, biology, geology, physics and chemistry, and fieldwork and lab sessions. It leads to the entrance exams of agronomy, veterinary, geology and environment schools, as well as certain engineering schools and the ENS.

What goes on your cards

BCPST is the track where memorisation weighs the most. Put on cards cell and molecular biology mechanisms, cycles, physiology, geology (rocks, minerals, tectonics), ecosystems, and chemistry and physics formulas. Lumi has you recall them.

A study rhythm

Add cards each week, then do two short sessions on the chapter, one after two days and one after a week (Cepeda et al., 2008). Before orals, replay the vocabulary. In the spring of year two, cycle through the whole biology and geology programme. See Spaced repetition, how long to wait between two reviews.
