Statistics
In statistics you remember precise definitions, formulas, conditions for use and the logic of a test. Lumi quizzes you on each so you pick the right tool without mixing up the vocabulary.

How to turn this subject into cards
Statistics mixes formulas and ideas, so separate them. One set for formulas (mean, variance, standard deviation, conditional probability), one for distributions and the conditions for using them, one for the logic of tests and confidence intervals. The typical trap is interpreting a p-value or an interval backwards, or confusing correlation with causation. Lumi asks these vocabulary questions until the right sentence comes on its own. Researchers remind students that we often misjudge our own learning (Bjork et al., 2013). It helps you remember definitions, formulas, conditions and test steps.

The standard deviation measures how spread out values are around the mean. In a normal distribution about 95 percent of values lie within two sigma of the mean. The p-value is the probability of a result at least as extreme as the one observed, if the null hypothesis is true. The central limit theorem says that sample means tend towards a normal distribution as the sample grows. Correlation does not imply causation.
